CHERYL MCGREGOR

Cheryl joined the team early 2025 after watching her husband do incredibly well on stage in 2024. The initial plan was to complete a photoshoot and get her in the best shape of her life. However that goal quickly changed to stepping on stage for the first time in the Masters Figure category.

As coaching began I could tell Cheryl already trained hard, you could tell that with the muscle mass she had, all she needed was a training split that suited the figure criteria and nutritional guidance. She settled into coaching very quickly and we saw a huge response out the gate.

The biggest challenge for Cheryl wasn’t in training or sticking to her diet, it was posing. Like it is for many first timers, posing felt alien, strange and down right hard to do. But I have to give her huge credit as she persevered, through a lot of frustration, as she nailed it by the time it goes to the stage. She ended up jumping in a show earlier that planned and had a tremendous first season, with the highlight being her win at BPA Masters All stars.

Fast forward to 2026, she jumped on stage for her second season with one goal in mind, improve her PCA placing from the year before. She brought a much tighter package to the stage and ended up bagging a 2nd place in a line up of 13th girls at PCA Scotland, 2nd place at PCA Saxon and 3rd place a the PCA North West.

I know that she has a bright future ahead in this sport and in time she will be undeniable.

Across two seasons Cheryl collected:

1 x 1st
3 x 2nd
2 x 3rd

Here is what Cheryl had to say about her journey:

“At the start of this year, I made the decision to compete again with one goal in mind—to improve on my PCA placing from last year. Choosing Prep Coach for my second season to guide me through that journey was honestly one of the best decisions I could have made.

From day one, I felt completely supported. Regardless of the time or the day the level of care, communication and attention to detail was incredible, and I always knew exactly what I needed to do. No question ever felt like too much, and knowing I had someone who genuinely believed in me made such a difference, especially during the tougher weeks of prep as he will himself agree this was a task in itself as my self doubt is one thing I never lacked and seemed to intensify as the weeks went on.

Show days were where that support really stood out. Having Vaughan there to guide me through everything, keep me focused, make sure I looked my absolute best and reassure me when the nerves kicked in was invaluable. It took so much pressure off and allowed me to step on stage feeling confident and ready.

Bodybuilding is such a demanding sport, both physically and mentally, and having the right coach in your corner can make all the difference. I'm so grateful for everything Vaughan has done over the years I have been with him to help me push beyond what I ever thought I was capable of and achieve a better result than the year before. Excited to see where the road leads up in our next few years working together.

If you're thinking about competing, whether it's your first show or you're looking to improve your results, I genuinely couldn't recommend Prep Coach highly enough. His knowledge, passion and commitment to his athletes are second to none, and I'm excited to continue working together and see what we can achieve next.”
