Liam Macadie

When Liam first came on board he hadn’t been in the industry very long, in fact he was just starting out. He had just started his career as a 1-1 personal trainer and had the goal of stepping on stage in the mens physique category. That was seven years ago and a lot has changed in that time frame!

In those early days it was all about getting him on the right training program to bring up his weaknesses and give him structure with his nutrition across the day. Liam took to this with ease and was never afraid to ask questions to progress his own knowledge over the years.

He first stepped on stage in 2019 in the Junior Mens Physique category (under 23 years old) and had tremendous success. He followed up that success in the Open Mens Physique category in 2021, 2022 and 2023. It was at this point we both decided he should move away from physique and enter a bodybuilding category. We knew he would have to bring his legs up to match his already heavily muscled upper body so agreed some time away from competing was required.

After two years away from the stage he competed in the classic bodybuilding and novice bodybuilding categories in 2025. On paper the season wasn’t quite as successful as previous ones but he looked much more at home on that stage than he ever did as a mens physique athlete.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to watch him grow as an athlete, businessman and also person in the time we have worked together. I know in the grand scheme of things his journey is still in it’s infancy, which makes me very excited for the future.

Our record together over the 7 years and 13 shows is:

1 x Overall
3 x 1st
7 x 2nd
2 x 3rd

Here is what Liam had to say about his journey so far:

“I signed up with Vaughan back in 2018 with the idea of competing for the first time, I had seen he had competed and it was clear he had a whole host of knowledge that would help me not only as an athlete but as a new and upcoming coach at the time.

Over the years I’ve seen his service and coaching methods continue to evolve and I believe it is the standard all coaches should aspire to be at, and I am grateful to receive such standards. I take a lot of inspiration from how he conducts his business. He is very professional, his reply times to check ins are incredibly quick, everything is laid out and explained in detail and I always know I’m in good hands. With every prep I’ve ever done with him the process has become more refined and even smoother- it’s very evident how much he continues to develop his methodologies year to year. He’s always willing to listen to my thoughts, takes on board my feedback and is responsive to it and I have great respect for that. It would be easy to believe I’m his only client, the fact he can uphold this standard to every other client speaks volumes about the kind of coach he is.

Having Vaughan there on show day and the days prior makes the world of difference. The in person check ins, the words of reassurance, getting to see real time reactions to how you’re looking fills you with a level of self assurance within yourself that, for me, couldn’t be replicated without that. He chooses to be at every show he can-because he wants to and this is very apparent with the enthusiasm and passion you get from him.

I would recommend him to anyone that is considering getting in to the competitive realm, at any level. I truly believe you’ll not find the level of support and commitment to his team and their success anywhere else. How he’s evolved me as both an athlete and a coach across the last 7 years is far beyond what I saw possible, and the words of this testimonial can’t even begin to show a fraction of the appreciation I have for everything he’s done for me.”
